Honour killing: Man hires contract killers to murder 8-months pregnant daughter, 2 held

PATNA: Police on Thursday arrested two men for allegedly killing an eigth-months pregnant girl on instructions from her father.
Paliganj SDPO Manoj Kumar Pandey said that the girl’s father Shivshankar Singh, a contractor and his four relatives were evading arrest in the case. He said Shivshankar is a resident of Mokar village under Karauna outpost in Jehanabad district.
The police arrested Kamlesh Bind (55) and Tunnu Natt (42) from Dulhin Bazaar police station area.
The SDPO said on the indications of Kamlesh and Tunnu, partially decomposed body of the girl was recovered with the help of NDRF and SDRF divers from Punpun river near Patna-Jehanabad border.
The SDPO said that Shivshankar had asked Kamlesh to arrange two labourers to kill her unmarried daughter as she was pregnant.
“Tunnu and Kalia Bind were paid Rs 1000 each by Shivshaknar to strangulate the girl and dispose her body in the river,” the SDPO said adding Kalia was also evading arrest. He said the murder is an incident of honour killing.
“A person informed police on December 2 that on previous night, an SUV was spotted near village Jhabua Chak under Dulhin Bazar police station from which a girl and five other persons had come out and their activity was suspicious,” the SDPO said.
He said that on basis of the information, police tried to identify the villagers whose movement was spotted in the village till late night on December 1.
“Kamlesh and Tunnu were identified who first misguided police but with stern quizzing they told that they had killed the girl,” Pandey said.
He said that the girl had an affair with youth in her village Mokar with whom she had fled couple of weeks back. “After investigation, it has surfaced that Shivshankar and his relative recovered girl from Gaya and directly brought her near the river to kill her,” the SDPO said.
He said Kamlesh was labour supplier for Shivshankar for last five years who had called Tunnu and Kalia at Jhabua Chak on night of December 1. “The green nylon rope used for strangulation was also by police with body. Sand filled sacks were tired to waist and neck of body so that it did not resurfaced,” he said adding further investigations were on in the case. Atleast five more persons were involved in the murder were yet to be arrested.
